Burton’s change
Burton’s Foods has changed its trading name to the Burton’s Biscuit Company. The firm’s corporate rebrand includes a new logo, to be used on product packaging, as well as a website redesign, due to be completed by early 2012. It will also adopt a new strapline, ’Making every day more of a treat’.
Aryzta revenue up
Aryzta posted a strong set of financial results in its first-quarter trading update for the 13 weeks to 31 October 2011. Group revenue for its Food Europe division stood at E316.2m (£270.86m), up 9.2%. Acquisition growth for Food Europe was up 6.3% reflecting in part the addition of UK flatbread firm Honeytop.
Sayers’ waste deal
Sayers the Bakers has agreed a national food waste collection service with recycling and waste management company Biffa. Following a successful two-month trial, the Bolton-based independent retail bakery chain will be working closely with Biffa to dispose of general waste, cardboard and plastics and achieve 100% diversion of waste from landfill.
Tesco’s festive push
Tesco will continue to rival competitors with the Big Christmas Price Drop, with thousands of prices lowered on everyday items such as bread, milk, meat and vegetables during the festive season.
