FDF’s health focus

The Food and Drink Federation has said it is continuing to reduce accident numbers in food manufacturing, but that there must be more of a focus on occupational ill health within the bakery sector. Partnering with the Health & Safety Executive and trade union groups, it has launched the third edition of its Common Strategy, a five-year programme focusing on reducing occupational ill health levels and improving workplace wellbeing.


uffkins adds outlet

Family-owned bakery Huffkins, has opened a new site on Cheltenham’s Promenade. The fourth bakery and tea room joins its existing locations in Burford, Witney and Stow on the Wold. The firm employs more than 100 staff and produces cakes, sandwiches and baked goods, own-brand products and hampers.

Big Bread Experiment

Duncan Glendinning and Patrick Ryan, artisan bakers from The Thoughtful Bread Company, appeared on The Big Bread Experiment, a BBC2 Series that aired from 5-7 December. It aimed to highlight the importance of community-supported bakeries.

Modern Swiss

Swiss-inspired Heidi’s Patisserie, based in Hampshire, has launched a new website www.heidispatisserie.co.uk. It has also signed up to social media sites Twitter and Facebook.
