Premium dessert manufacturer Indulgence Patisserie has announced it will be investing £250,000 in a new site, and hopes to increase turnover to £12m over the next few years.
The new site will be adjacent to the company’s existing premises in Clough Road, Colchester, where it has been since 1988.
MD Angus Allan said it would enable the firm to increase its turnover from its current £5m to £12m within the next three years. He explained that the new site, which will mainly serve to increase the production numbers of its existing products, was being built partly in response to increasing sales, but also to enable the firm to go after new business. "We’re getting current customers saying they’d like to order more products, and we’ve also identified customers both here in the UK and abroad that we’d like to be supplying in future," Allan told British Baker.
The firm, which manufactures premium private label and branded desserts for the retail, foodservice and travel catering markets, has seen its export business grow 200% year-on-year and, this year, has begun supplying new countries including Belgium and the Netherlands, with both retail and foodservice products. Its export range includes cakes, gateaux, torten, cheesecakes, bavarois, meringues, tiramisu, terrines and parfaits.
Work is due to begin on the new site in Spring next year, and Allan said the firm hopes to begin production there by the summer of 2011.
