It is with sadness that British Baker can announce that John Reynard, of Reynards UK, passed away on Sunday (28 October).
John was a well-known figure in the baking industry and will be missed by many.
He began working full-time for Reynards Bakery Supplies, as it was known then, in 1957. Over the years he was involved in many other businesses, including a foil manufacturer, hairdressers, squash club, pub, and sugar decorations manufacturer called Sugarfair.
He was a big supporter of the Bakers’ Benevolent Society, and raised more than £60,000 for the charity in his year as ‘president of appeal’, as well as other fundraising activities over the years.
He was even made an honorary life-member of National Association of Master Bakers, in recognition of his continued support for the Association.
The funeral will be held tomorrow (2 November), at noon, at: St Michaels C of E Church, Townley Street, Middleton, Manchester, M24 1BT.
Then afterwards at North Manchester Golf Club: Rhodes House, Manchester Old Road, Middleton, Manchester, M24 4PE.
