Scottish business McGhee’s Bakery has been shortlisted in the Glasgow Business Awards, organised by the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Bank of Scotland.
McGhee’s is a finalist in the Family Business of the Year category, which recognises the achievements of established, family-owned businesses across all industry sectors, which have successfully blended strong business acumen and family engagement. The award is judged on distinctive business practices, which have helped the business prosper and grow, alongside a family commitment to smooth succession planning.
Company director Gordon McGhee said: “We are delighted to have been recognised by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce in this sector. Being a third-generation business and celebrating 80 years’ trading this year, the term family business certainly fits McGhee’s profile.”
The company produces 3 million rolls and 750,000 tattie scones every week for delivery across Scotland.
The winners will be announced at an awards dinner on Thursday 6 October 2016 at the Hilton Glasgow hotel.
In June last year McGhee’s announced plans for a £3m bakery extension.
