A new complete project management company is offering bakers a support package to boost their business.
Industry stalwart Ian Ort has set up London Food Machinery, which can work with a baker on a new product idea, supply the machinery to make it, help with test runs and install the line. It can also offer all of the ancillary services, such as electrical/mechanical services, machine relocation, CDM management and construction services. Ort also plans to provide a service whereby he will go into a business and see what can be improved.
Ort will target the large industrial bakers before focusing on artisan companies. "I don’t think there is a model like this out there, with someone who can build your entire bakery, as well as provide solutions," he said.
Ort has previously worked in bakery operations, production and engineering, most recently at Maple Leaf Foods in corporate engineering. The firm already represents Kortlever, and Rheon in Ireland.
