Belgian pastry manufacturer Pidy displayed a whole selection of new products at the IFE exhibition at ExCeL, London last week.
As well as moving into purely chocolate products, such as thimble-sized chocolate cups, the firm also launched a range of chocolate-coated mini cones, ice-cream cones and tortilla wraps in a bid to expand its ’all-under-one-roof’ approach. Other new products included edible coffee cups coated with chocolate and toasted coconut, and rum babas.
UK general manager Robert Whittle said the firm was promoting the first phase of three major launches in the next six months, as it looks to increase its supply base in the UK. Its coloured mini cones won the pastry category of the Fresh Ideas 2011 competition at the show. The firm said it is now supplying products into Sainsbury’s and will launch in Waitrose in June, with turnover up more than 10% in its UK operations.
