British Baker is holding a round-table, The Big Bakery Debate: Saturated Fat and Calories Consultation, on Wednesday 21 October at the Landmark Hotel, London, and is keen to hear from industry representatives who would like to attend.

The event will centre on an open discussion with Food Standards Agency (FSA) decision-makers over its current consultation on saturated fat and calorie intake, launched this summer, which focuses on biscuits, cakes, pastries and buns.

The debate will be chaired by Paul Wilkinson, former executive chairman of RHM and current chair of Big Bear, Produce World and Improve. Rosemary Hignet, who is heading up the FSA consultation, will be speaking at the event, so make sure you are there to get your voice and opinions heard.

The conference will begin with coffee at 8.45am, followed by the chair’s welcome and presentations. There will then be a discussion period from 10.15-12.30 before a buffet lunch and networking opportunities, ready for a 2pm finish.

The key issues discussed at the event will be presented to the FSA by British Baker on the industry’s behalf, in time for the 3 November deadline.
