Real Good Food Company’s group MD Stephen Heslop is reviewing all divisions due to challenging trading conditions, it was revealed in a pre-Christmas trading update.

Trading conditions in all divisions had proved to be more challenging than expected but the group continued to trade profitably, it said in the update on 19 December. For the year to 31 December 2007, normalised profits before tax were expected to be not less than £6m, it said.

In the past year, action has been taken to address significant inflation in some raw material prices by passing rising costs on to customers and implementing a programme to provide more effective purchasing and inventory management. These processes would continue to accrue benefits into the next financial year, it said.

Tony Sharpe, formerly MD of G&J Greenall, has joined its executive team to lead the bakery ingredients division Renshaw.
