Hexham bakery Rivermill Foods has gone into liquidation, only months after it was bought out of administration, according to reports.

The closure has reportedly led to the loss of 50 jobs at the site on Bridge End industrial estate.

The bakery, trading as Nichol & Laidlow at the time, was bought by Rivermill in January this year. However, the original bakery was established in 1928.

It supplies cakes and cereal bars to coffee shops and retailers, as well as producing products for brands such as Wild Trail and The National Trust.

It is understood that there was a creditors’ meeting held on 18 November and that Quantuma Restructuring has been appointed as liquidator.
