Stephens Bakery was named Scottish Baker of the Year at the annual association conference, in Glasgow, this weekend.

The Dunfermline-based bakery, headed up by André Sarafilovic, was presented with a silver rolling-pin trophy on Saturday night (18 May) by Mich Turner MBE.

The awards formed part of the annual Scottish Bakers’ conference for the second year running. The conference programme also included talks on the regeneration of the high street, a discussion forum on health and nutrition, and a keynote speech from special guest and cake-maker and decorator to the stars, Mich Turner.

Sarafilovic added: “We are extremely pleased to be recognised as Scotland’s best baker. Now in our 140th year as a family business, with 165 staff, 14 shops and 59 franchise stores, we take our business very seriously. But we could not have come this far in the competition without our dedicated and skilled team and without the votes of all of our customers.”
