The British Sandwich Association (BSA) is looking for the best bakers selling sandwiches in the UK as part of its annual Sammies industry awards.

Retailers who don’t get the recognition they deserve for their sandwich retailing are being encouraged to enter the Baker Sandwich Shop of the Year Award; judges will look at the way their business operates, as well as initiatives it has taken to develop a successful sandwich operation. 

Said BSA director Jim Winship: “Bakers account for a major part of the sandwich industry in the UK, yet they don’t always get acknowledged as such. We are particularly keen to find some of the more traditional retail bakeries, who have developed a successful sandwich business alongside their established business.”

All those shortlisted will be visited by independent judges and the finalists will be invited to attend the BSA’s annual awards party in London on 19 May.
