Bakery warehouse supervisor Dave Barnes was told by his wife he’d have to retake his wedding vows after losing his wedding ring at work and that ’threat’ triggered a UK-wide hunt by his bosses and workmates.
Dave (30), who works for the Sweet Success Sugarcraft and Bakery in Hyson Green, Nottingham, lost the ring while checking orders. "I realised the ring could have gone into any one of the 60 boxes of cakes I had been packing for 30 different customers across the UK," said Dave.
Customers in Glasgow, London, Hull and Merthyr Tydfil were contacted, before the ring was finally discovered in a box of Genoese sponge slabs in Solihull, Birmingham. A relieved Dave told BB: "I’ve finally got my ring back, which had been on a 100-mile trip across the Midlands. I’ve now been christened the Lord of the Rings!"
