With the National Cupcake Championships 2016 now open for entries, British Baker caught up with last year’s Overall Winner Helen Bollen.
Bollen, owner of Mrs B’s Cakes, enjoyed huge success at the 2015 championships, winning three categories – and the icing on the cupcake was that her Spiced Apple and Blackberry offering seized the top prize.
She told us how vintage style was currently a key trend in cupcakes and how winning the award had really helped her business, acting like a “seal of approval” for potential customers.
