Lewis Pie & Pasty Company, the Welsh pie producer and exporter, has retained its A Grade BRC accreditation.

The Swansea-based company, which supplies Asda, Morrisons and Tesco, along with exporting to Germany, Spain and Malta, also said it was making “great strides” towards implementing changes for the draft version of BRC 7.

Wilf Lewis, commercial director, said: “BRC is a vital part of our plans at Lewis and I would like to thank our team for all the hard work put in by them throughout the past year. 

“BRC is a key building block of our growth strategy, which includes product, production and marketing improvements. We are a family-run business and are passionate about our products and the way we deal with our customers. We are excited about the future and new opportunities.”

In 2008 the business secured a contract to supply Carrefour in Spain after it exhibited at the Alimentaria International food and drink exhibition in Barcelona, under the Welsh Assembly Government’s International Business Wales (IBW) and True Taste banner, attracting interest from foreign companies.
