Chocolate specialist Barry Callebaut is offering caterers the chance to win a trip to a cocoa plantation in its For The Love of Chocolate Challenge.
Chefs, chocolatiers and patissiers are all eligible to enter by putting a new twist on one of the nation’s top five desserts: brownie; cheesecake; cake; pudding; and ice cream.
Then, hopefuls must share the details of their creation on www.fortheloveofchoc.com between 5 January and midnight on 1 March 2015.
Two winners will be chosen – one over 22 years old and one under – for a four-night paid-for trip to learn more about the origins of chocolate.
Robert Harrison, sales director, said: “The foodservice industry thrives on innovation so we’re really looking forward seeing what chefs come up with and rewarding the best of the best with a trip to one of our plantations. It really is a unique prize and one we’re incredibly proud to be able to offer.
“There are so many interesting uses for chocolate and it’s an ingredient that works equally well for desserts as it does for afternoon tea and banqueting menus. Our recipes have been created to spark imagination amongst the industry. Strong consumer demand means there will always be a place for chocolate on menus but caterers really need to expand their offering with wow-factor dishes to keep customers coming back for more.”
