Bradford’s Bakers has launched its Bakery ATM in St Enoch shopping centre in Glasgow this week.

The Glasgow-based family-run firm said its new bakery dispensing station is the first of its kind to be operating in the UK, and will be stocked with seven varieties of cupcake, baked fresh from the business’ local bakery every morning.

Varieties include Malteser mint medley, Irn Bru, jelly bean bonanza and a St Clements cupcake consisting of Madeira sponge topped with lemon frosting and decorated with edible sugar lemons and oranges.

Claire Bradford, co-owner of Bradford’s Bakers, told British Baker: “We launched our Bakery ATM this week and already our sales figures are ahead of our projections – and rising daily. We are monitoring our sales closely and, should current levels be sustained, then we will bring forward our plans to roll-out the Bakery ATM across a variety of locations throughout the central belt ofScotland”

The firm said on its dedicated Bakery ATM website that it was on the hunt for further locations to install the new cupcake dispensing concept.

Bradford’s Bakers, founded in 1924, produces food hampers, birthday cakes and a wide selection of bakery goods.
