Hundreds of visitors turned out to enter the competitions, watch the masterclasses and network with the exhibitors at Bakers’ Fair Summer yesterday (Sunday 24 June).
TV presenter Anthea Turner was also there to announce the winners of the National Association of Master Bakers’ competitions, at the show at Kempton Park Racecourse in Middlesex.
Among the winners were Tom Brucciani, from Brucciani Midlands, who took home first prize in the Open Quiche and Traditional Sponge Sandwich categories, and John Done, of BF Done & Son bakery, who won both the Four Wholemeal Rolls and 400g White Loaf categories.
The crowds amassed around the stage for the bakery demonstrations and talks, including Louise Brooker from Cake Craft World, who gave tips on how to add value to cupcakes and cake pops with decorations. Meanwhile Mellissa Morgan, aka Ms Cupcake, may well have converted a few visitors to going vegan after her masterclass on how to make a vegan Victoria Sponge.
