Bakers and other independent retailers are being given a chance to show off their stores in a Christmas advertising spot on national TV.
Visa is following up its 2018 Christmas ad campaign, which featured retailers including Crouch End bakery Dunn’s, with a similar push urging people across the UK to show their local high street some love and shop locally.
In last year’s ad, Dunn’s Bakery fifth generation baker Christopher Freeman featured alongside eight others including a butcher, greengrocer, bookseller and a florist. The ad was made up of each shopkeeper signing along to Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You.
Visa is this year inviting all independent retailers, including bakeries, to create their own copycat videos of Visa’s similar 2019 advert that features retailers singing along with Somebody To Love (see below). One version will win a national TV advertising spot.
In their own version of the ad, retailers will need to make a video that features their shop, and in which they sing over the original Queen version of Somebody To Love. They will also have to fill in a form at the Visa website and share the video publicly using the @VisaUK handle and #WhereYouShopMatters on Twitter and/or Instagram.
