Malted ingredients supplier Edme has been visiting care homes, allowing residents to ask about baking.

As part of the company’s corporate social responsibility activity, Richard Ball, technical baker at Edme, visited residents and staff at two local care homes in Mistley, Essex.

The residents at Acorn Village, a centre for adults with learning difficulties, had the opportunity to speak to Richard about baking and his job.

Kate Williams, a director at Acorn Village, said: “These kind of visits are really helpful in bringing new experiences to our residents and in supporting our ‘Life is for Living’ philosophy. Richard’s visit and Edme’s support are much appreciated.”

Peter Tichbon, managing director of Edme, said: “Edme has been based in Mistley since the 1880s.  We supply quality malted ingredients to bakeries throughout the UK and abroad, but do not forget our roots. We really want our neighbours to be proud to have manufacturing on their doorsteps - particularly the production of wholesome malted products made from locally sourced grain.

“It was a pleasure to support the care home in our community and to have the opportunity to share a little of our passion for baking at the same time.”
