Jersey Mike’s Subs is set to mark its UK debut with four new sites in London.
The American sandwich chain, which unveiled an ambition to reach 400 sites across the UK and Ireland earlier this year, has confirmed the first shop will be launched in late autumn on Argyll Street in the West End.
The location is said give the brand an immediate presence in one of the capital’s busiest and most internationally recognised destinations. It will be followed shortly by a further three outlets in central London, aimed at forming a launchpad for Jersey Mike’s expansion plans as it looks to also establish a significant presence in the European market.
Supporting these plans is a franchise agreement with JM Submarines UK, a new firm led by the brand’s founder Peter Cancro.
Jersey Mike’s started out in 1956 as a neighbourhood sandwich shop in Point Pleasance, New Jersey, and has since grown into a major restaurant brand with more than 3,300 locations across the US and Canada. Its proposition centres on freshly baked subs filled with meats and cheeses sliced in-store and fresh vegetables. A signature ‘juice’ – combination of red wine vinegar and oil blend – and ‘Mike’s Way’ preparation are noted as hallmarks of the brand’s experience.

“Jersey Mike’s has always been about making a great sub, taking care of our customers and giving back to the communities we’re part of. I’m excited to bring that same spirit to the UK,” commented Cancro. “We’ve spent decades building this brand in America, and now we’re ready to introduce a whole new audience to what we mean when we say ‘a Sub Above’.”
Another US-based sandwich brand, Which Wich, recently signed a new multi-unit franchise deal as part of its own UK expansion journey. It currently has four sites in operation – two each in London and Cardiff.
Bristol-born rival Sandwich Sandwich, meanwhile, opened a six-month pop-up at Paddington train station back in April as well as launching a range of platters for delivery to London offices.
These brands still have a long way to catch up with US sandwich giant Subway, which reduced its UK estate by 51 stores last year but still maintained its third spot in the top 75 list of out-of-home operators in our Bakery Market Report 2026 with a total of 2,081 locations.
