Pullins Bakery of Yatton has won the top gong in the Worshipful Company of Bakers’ bread competition at the Bath and West Show.
Its sourdough loaf saw the bakery take Baker’s Prize for Overall Champion in the first year the competition was held. Three winners were named across Classic British White Loaf; Farmhouse Wholegrain; and Sourdough categories with the overall winner chosen bu judges David Mizon from Train2Bake, Portreath Bakery’s Marion Symonds and Bob Burns from Burns the Bakers.
David Amos, UK managing director of Zeelandia, which organised the competition, said: “It was great to see the level of talent the south west has to offer in the world of baking. The number and quality of entries was really impressive and we wish the winner well when they take up their winner’s prize of a stall at the Royal Bath and West Show.”
