Patisserie Valerie’s latest limited-edition gateau was conceived by the winner of its Junior Baker drawing competition.
Bakery and café Patisserie Valerie launched the competition last June, inviting junior baking enthusiasts to design their “dream gateau”.
After trialling, baking and testing the cakes, Patisserie Valerie selected The Chocolate and Strawberry Delight created by six-year-old Imogen from Durham.
Competition judges were impressed by her complementary flavour selection, said the company.
Imogen’s creation comprises chocolate sponge, fresh cream and strawberries, is topped with white chocolate cream and strawberries, and finished with white and dark chocolate curls.
A limited-edition design, it is available at Patisserie Valerie and sister brand Druckers throughout June, and can be purchased in-store and online in both whole cake (£22) and slice form (£3.10).
Patisserie Valerie added that it hoped to “continue with similar opportunities moving forward”.
