Starbucks is to expand its mobile platform, with the roll-out of its Android app to the UK and Canada.
Customers in the UK who download the app will be able to access a range of features including Starbucks Card mobile payment system, store locator, My Starbucks Rewards stars, balance check and reload, PIN code protection, a widget and balance transfer capabilities.
At the same time, the global coffee chain has also enhanced the features of the app for its US customers, which now include a widget, PayPal support, PIN code protection and the ability to view the My Starbucks Rewards history dashboard.
Adam Brotman, chief digital officer at Starbucks Coffee Company, said the extension of its mobile payment capabilities to Android smartphones in the UK, one its most important markets, was a strong milestone for the firm. “But more importantly, it extends the number of customers who now have a faster and easier way to pay at Starbucks,” he added.
