Warburtons has expanded its line-up with a new thin bagel and gluten-free buns.
The business is adding a fourth product to its thin bagel range with 21 Seeds & Grains Thin Bagels that include sunflower seeds, brown linseed, jumbo oats, malted rye flakes, sesame seeds and more. The bagels, which are boiled and then baked, come pre-sliced and weigh in at 147 calories each.
With an rsp of £1.79, in line with the rest of the range, they are currently exclusive to Tesco before being launched into other retailers including Morrisons and Amazon.
Warburtons is also extending its gluten-free range with a four-pack of Cinnamon & Raisin Sliced Fruity Buns that are free from gluten, wheat and milk.
Produced in the company’s dedicated gluten-free factory, they have a brioche base and are flavoured with cinnamon, mixed spices and caramelised sugar. The buns have rolled out to Sainsbury’s, Co-op and Ocado (rsp £2.90) and will be available in Asda, Tesco and Morrisons later this month.
Warburtons chairman Jonathan Warburton said Thin Bagels had become “incredibly popular” since the company launched them in 2015, and that he believed there was further growth to come.
“The new 21 Seeds & Grains products are a source of fibre and great for those looking for a lighter alternative to standard bagels,” he added.
Warburton said the gluten-free buns had been developed to add something new to the free-from market.
“We also know that gluten free consumers are always looking for new and exciting products that are high in quality and taste great,” he added.
In addition to the retail listings, the buns are available to buy direct via the Warburtons website, priced £3. Consumers who use the Warburtons app are given access to bundle deals and a loyalty scheme. They will also be able to make use of free product giveaways, with free samples of the buns given with every order during the first two weeks of sale.
