Ingredients supplier Dawn Foods is seeking three people to join its Student and Bakery Apprentice Ambassador Programme.

The scheme is aimed at students aged 18-plus who are studying for a Level 4 or above bakery-related qualification, or undertaking a recognised bakery training programme. Those selected to join the programme will undertake work experience at the company’s Worcestershire factory and have the chance to work with Dawn’s development team on new recipes.

Ambassadors will also help to create content for Dawn’s social media platforms and for external media, giving students an opportunity to promote themselves to the wider bakery sector.

“As a leading bakery company, Dawn Foods is committed to supporting young people at the start of their career,” said Jacqui Passmore, Dawn Foods marketing lead for West EU & AMEAP, who was this year named president of the Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST).

She added that there are many opportunities in bakery that young people may not be aware of, such as manufacture and production, NPD, procurement, sales and marketing and operations.

“Our Student Ambassador programme not only helps students gain hands-on insight into these channels but boosts the CV and enhances their prospects with future employers.”

This year has brought changes to the company’s ambassador programme. Dawn has worked with University College Birmingham on the scheme for the past eight years but is now widening it to people at other bakery colleges as well as members of the ABST.

“We’re delighted to be able to widen the scope of the programme for 2025 and look forward to seeing the entries,” added Passmore.

The deadline for applications for the Student and Bakery Apprentice Ambassador Programme is 29 November 2024. For more information email Jacqui Passmore at abst.contactus@gmail.com
