The Real Bread Campaign (RBC) is one of three finalists in the running for the Derek Cooper Award at the BBC Food and Farming Awards.
Cook and food writer Valentine Warner revealed the finalists on the BBC Radio Four’s Food Programme, on Sunday (30 September).
Named after The Food Programme’s first presenter, the Derek Cooper Award is bestowed on “an individual or team bringing about a real change in our relationship with food”.
RBC member Pump Street Bakery in Orford, Suffolk, The Handmade Bakery in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire, and Hambleton Bakery in Exton, Oakham, were also named as finalists in the Best Food Producer category.
The winners will be announced at the BBC Good Food Show at the NEC on 28 November.
Previous winners have included RBC co-founder Andrew Whitley (Judges’ Special Award 2011), RBC ambassador Richard Bertinet (BBC Food Champion, 2010), and RBC member Alex Gooch (Best Food Producer, 2010).
