Welsh craft bakery The Village Bakery has been named Wales’ fastest-growing manufacturer as it revealed it is in 444% year-on-year growth.
In last year’s Fast Growth 50 Awards in Cardiff, the Wrexham-based bakery scooped the prize for fastest-growing company.
Robin Jones, managing director, said: “Being named as Wales’ fastest-growing manufacturer was a proud moment for everybody at The Village Bakery and it has raised our profile as a company that is really going places.
“Our success at the Wales Fast Growth 50 Awards was founded on developing new products and increasing sales to well-known supermarket and high street brands across the UK, allied to exports across mainland Europe and as far afield as Singapore.
“The brand needed a more contemporary treatment, building on the excellent reputation of this family company and the products that The Village Bakery produce so that our reputation can spread to cover the whole of Wales.”
Lesley Griffiths, Wrexham AM, congratulated the business: “To be named as Wales’ fastest-growing manufacturer 12 months after winning the title of Wales’ fastest-growing company is a fantastic achievement.
“It is testament to the vision, innovation and hard work of the Jones family and the dedication and skill of the workforce.
“The foundation of their success is built on traditional craft bakery skills, married to the use of the best technology, which enables them to produce super high-quality products in volume.”
Work is still under way on a new Baking Academy and Innovation Centre at the company’s Wrexham site.
The company comprises two bakeries – one on Wrexham Industrial Estate and one in Minera.
