High street bakery Patisserie Valerie has launched the #MyValerieGateau competition, which will see the public design the company’s next gateau.
Patisserie Valerie, owned by Patisserie Holdings, has launched the competition to allow customers to invent a gateau design using its interactive micro-site.
The winning designer will not only get their gateau made into a real Patisserie Valerie cake, which will be sold on www.patisserie-valerie.co.uk, but also a short break to Paris for two.
Patisserie Valerie has teamed up with SuperBreak Mini Holidays to offer the three-night trip to Paris for two in a four-star hotel, which includes breakfast and return travel by Eurostar. Patisserie Valerie is also offering an afternoon tea at its St Pancras store on arrival or departure date.
Two runners-up will also receive a prize for their gateau designs – a £250 Patisserie Valerie gift card.
The micro-site features Madame Valerie herself and a gateau inventing machine. Users are pointed to select options from drop down menus – including sponge flavour, cream, fillings, toppings and sides. Animation is used to show the cake being created as the user goes through the different stages.
Once submitted, users are encouraged to share their creations on social media with the hashtag #MyValerieGateau
This month Patisserie Holdings saw ebitda increase 21.3% to £10.6m, and revenue grow 14% to £50m, up from £43.7m in the first half of the last financial year.
