The new Hovis Best of Both Mix from Premier Foods is for those “who enjoy the taste of white bread, but want the benefits of wholemeal bread”, according to Premier Foods.
Available to order from the end of May, the new Hovis Best of Both Mix from Premier contains a combination of wheat white flour and wholemeal flour, with added wheatgerm. The mix is also rich in calcium and a source of fibre.
Sarah Robb, channel marketing manager at Premier Foods, said: “We are delighted to introduce this solution to the foodservice sector under such a well-known, trusted brand that originally pioneered and launched Best of Both in the UK.
“The new mix is ideal for creating freshly baked bread goods quickly and easily while also offering the versatility of delivering the goodness of wholemeal in a white bread format.”
Earlier this year Premier conducted research into menu trends, and found consumers on the lookout for perceived healthier and lighter dishes. The company said the new mix would cater for this demand, “whether caterers are serving a comprehensive bread basket or a range of fresh sandwiches”.
The Hovis Best of Both Mix will be available to order from the end of May in 3.5kg sized bags.
Elsewhere, Gavin Darby, chief executive of Premier Foods, has said a firm bid from the American spice firm McCormick never happened.
