HeyLo! brownie bar in new packaging

Leeds-based low-carb brand HeyLo! has unveiled a trio of brownie bars as well as flatbreads as it looks to tap into the ‘unstoppable momentum of the keto and low carb momentum’.

The Brownie Bars are available in Choco, Ginger, and Orange flavours and tick a variety of dietary boxes, according to the brand, including being high fibre, low sugar, vegan, and gluten free. They boast ‘half a sugar cube of sweetness’ and are made with almonds, chicory root fibre, coconut oil, cocoa powder, sweeteners, and other ingredients. They retail for £2.29 each and are available via CLF distribution and the HeyLo! website which has a ‘significant D2C’ customer base.

The flatbreads, also available via CLF, have been added to replace pizza bases due to their versatility. Their ingredients feature wheat flour, oat fibre, milled linseed, and pea protein and cost £7.49 for a pack for four 70g flatbreads.

These new additions take the range to 17 lines including low carb seeded, brown, and cinnamon raisin loaves as well as wraps, bagels, buns and a selection of granola.

Alongside the NPD, HeyLo! partnered with No Biscuits Agency on a revamped identity which is rolling out across the whole range. The agency fused ‘bold, impactful visuals with contemporary design’ – the bright yellow and mauve colour lines are designed to showcase the brand’s personality.

Meanwhile The Tribe, a female-owned, Manchester-based strategic branding agency, known for its work with the likes of Quaker and Dr. Oetker, rolled this out across the full range. The new packaging, said HeyLo!, will break through an ‘often homogenised shelf’ as it combines boldness with simplicity to create a clear, accessible message that resonates with health-conscious consumers.

The packaging also features a ‘Made in the UK’ label on the majority of the range while the ‘Buy Women Built’ logo highlights that it’s a female-founded company.

“It’s not just a new look but a truer reflection of us as a brand,” said Heidi Normanton, founder of HeyLo!. “By continuing our mission to create low-carb options that genuinely taste and satisfy just like their high-carb counterparts, we’re proving the choice doesn’t have to be a sacrifice, and they can have their life back by making these small switches.”

The refreshed design and new product line-up debuted at the UK Food & Drink Shows earlier this month and will be available from May.

Low carb bakery offerings are slowly gaining pace in the UK with a few players tapping into the market. This includes Manchester-based bakery Robert Andrew which launched its brand, Low-Carb Sourdough, late last year. Initially launching with two products – a sliced wholegrain half bloomer and a four-pack of brown rolls – the company aims to tap into rising demand for low-carb baked goods, including sourdough.
