Ingredients supplier Puratos has installed a new 53XL80 thermal transfer coder from Allen Coding Systems to improve traceability.
The 53XL80 is being used to print numbers, weight, date packed and best-before date on to plastic sachets at speeds of up to 50 packs per minute.
Phill Davenport, maintenance manager, said: “Increasing customer demand for better traceability and 24-hour production prompted a need to upgrade our old Allen Coding printing system.”
Davenport added that Puratos had always been pleased with the company’s previous coder and overall service, and was therefore happy to go with its recommendation of a 53XL80 as it was a “straight swap” for its existing machine.
The 53XL80 thermal transfer printer offers high-resolution printhead technology, the flexibility to print fixed and variable text, data and graphics, plus 600-metre ribbon capacity.
Allen Coding is part of the ITW Marking & Coding Division, which also comprises Allen Spain, Norwood, Diagraph, Trident and Allen Germany.
