The co-founder of Gail’s, retail specialist at Ocado, and director at Jacksons Bakery are among the speakers for the British Society of Baking’s (BSB) Autumn conference.

Taking place at the Ardencote Hotel & Spa in Warwick on 9 October 2025, the conference will explore ‘how to do bakery business better’ with speakers from craft bakery, retailing, manufacturing, ingredients, and technical providing their own spin on the topic.

Here is the full line-up of speakers:

  • Adrian Hipkiss, director, Lottie Shaw’s (William Jackson Food Group)
  • David Deeley, senior insights manager, Kerry Foods
  • Kerry Barker, head of category, Ocado
  • Stan Cauvain, director, BakeTran
  • Tim Goodwin, founder, The Street Bakeshop
  • Tom Molnar, co-founder and CEO, Gail’s Bakery

As the conference will also celebrate the BSB’s 70th anniversary, Cauvain and Deeley will whip out their crystal balls (and decades’ worth of experience) to predict what the next 70 years could look like for bakery. Topics up for discussion will include the rise of artificial intelligence and slimming aids, such as GLP-1. Cauvain will also be sharing his expertise at an upcoming British Baker webinar: how is AI and technology changing the baking industry?

Bakery is big for online retailer Ocado, so Kerry Barker will explore the firm’s working practices in her presentation. The retailer had previously championed at the 2023 Baking Industry Awards in the Online Bakery Business of the Year category as it looked to offer a wide range of everyday bakery skus from some of the nation’s largest suppliers as well as be a ‘destination for innovation’ by supporting artisanal firms.

Another success story comes from William Jackson Food Group which bought Baking Industry Awards 2025 finalist and craft bakery Lottie Shaw’s last year. Adrian Hipkiss, who joined the business recently, will explain what his journey has been like and how the business is flourishing this year.

A Baking Industry Awards alumni in the form of two-time Baker of the Year Tim Goodwin will also take to the stage to share how his craft bakery The Street Bakeshop is competing in an increasingly crowded marketplace.

Rounding off the speakers is Gail’s CEO Tom Molnar who will discuss the what, when, and why of Gail’s continued success on Britain’s high streets.

As usual, the conference will be preceded by a dinner the night before. To find out more, or to book tickets for the conference, visit the BSB website.
