Bakers’ Fair Summer will once again host a series of competitions for bakers, organised by the National Association of Master Bakers. These will be judged live at the show and are open to all bakers to enter you don’t need to be a member of the NAMB to do so. The winners’ trophies will then be awarded by our celebrity guest Anthea Turner.

There will be six main classes: celebration cake (theme ’Best of British’); four cupcakes (two varieties); traditional sponge sandwich filled with jam and dusted with icing sugar; one 400g white loaf; four wholemeal rolls; and inno-vation using sweet pastry. Two additional classes will see bakers rival butchers as part of the combined Bakers’ and Butchers’ Fairs. These two classes are: sausage rolls (this entry must consist of two sausage rolls, puff pastry); and open quiche. The deadline for entries is 1 June, and the application form can be downloaded from www.bakersfair.co.uk.
