Bakeart has secured a licence from Comic Relief to produce edible Red Nose Day decorations, which can be used on a wide range of bakery products.
The edible ‘Red Nose’ wafer disks, are available in two designs, and came about after a number of bakeries contacted the decorations company to see if they had any Comic Relief-themed products.
“Retail bakers who don’t use packaging often struggle for ideas, so we contacted Comic Relief to see if there was a licence and whether we could acquire it,” said Malcolm Hemming of Bakeart.
The company, which came up with the design itself, invested £1,500 in new kit to produce the disks, including a new cutter and packaging, and will also be donating £2 from every pack of 300 Red Noses ordered.
“We called back the bakers who had originally contacted us, and they really jumped on the idea; we’ve had orders for more than 250 packs already,” he added.
