Hull-based nutrition brand Battle Oats has added the Lemon Drizzle protein cookie to its range.
The new Lemon Drizzle cookie is available to purchase on the brand’s website for £16.99 for a box of 12 variants, as well as on high-protein foods website musclefood.com. It will also be listed with wholesalers including Muscle Fitnesse and Tropicana.
The new cookie, which is gluten-free and suitable for vegans, has 11g of fibre and 10g of plant-based protein.
Kevin Smith, co-founder of Battle Oats, told British Baker that high street retailer Holland & Barrett is aiming to list the new baked cookies later this year.
“We decided to take a classic (and nostalgic) home-comfort recipe such as Lemon Drizzle and injected it with our own refreshingly sharp and lively zing to create a serious lemon drizzle flavour protein cookie,” said Smith.
“We find that staggering new flavour launches keeps brand interest on social media and our customers really get behind each new launch with tons of enthusiasm.”
The brand is set to launch several more flavours to the range in September and October following “overwhelming” feedback from consumers for its Double Chocolate and Chocolate Chip cookies.
“The feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive since launching the cookies, especially from the vegan community who struggle to find a high-protein healthy indulgent snack,” Smith adds.
“On-the-go protein snacking is increasing drastically and we’re seeing a lot of demand for our products in convenience stores and forecourts across Britain.”
All of Battle Oats’ products are handmade and oven-baked in its family-run bakery in Oxford.
