Channel 4 has launched a TV marketing campaign for the upcoming Great British Bake Off series.
The 60-second film will launch on Channel 4 at around 8.30pm today (3 August), during half time of the Women’s Euros 2017 semi-final, when England takes on host nation the Netherlands.
The ‘bake-mation’ represents the first time an entire advert has been animated using baked products. It takes viewers on a British-themed baking journey; from the breaking of an egg, the mixing, kneading and baking of ingredients to the final assembly of a show-stopper.
A cast of 335 baked characters was created, using 500 eggs, 28kg of sugar and 50kg of flour before they were brought to life as animated personalities.
The eighth series is expected to be broadcast this autumn, with Prue Leith joining Paul Hollywood on the judging panel and writer Sandi Toksvig and comedian Noel Fielding co-hosting the programme.
