Greggs has unveiled a lunchtime meal deal which sees shoppers get a main, drink, and side for £5.
Called the 3-part Big Deal, customers can choose from any hot or cold sandwich, salad, pasta, or even chicken goujons as a main, any drink, and select from a range of sides including wedges, fruit pot, crisps, yoghurt, or the brand-new egg pot. And, until 5 November only, they can choose to swap their side for a Sausage Roll or a Vegan Sausage Roll.
The food-to-go giant, which has more than 2,600 shops nationwide, already offers a variety of deals catering to all occasions across the day including its Breakfast Roll Meal Deal (a one filling breakfast roll and drink for £3.95), Savoury Bake & Hot Drink Deal (from £3.35), and Pizza Slice & Cold Drink Deal (from £2.85, available after 4pm).
However, the new addition marks the first time it has ventured into the typical main, side, drink meal deal format which is popular in supermarkets and other establishments.
Greggs has also rolled out a seasonal menu featuring a new Chicken Fajita Bake, a trio of toasties, spicy chicken burger and wrap, as well as returning items such as the Pumpkin Spice Doughnut and Toffee Fudge Muffin.
The Chicken Fajita Bake is filled with smoky shredded chicken, grilled peppers, and spicy fajita sauce, wrapped in signature golden puff pastry and topped with a black pepper crumb.
For even more of a kick, Greggs has added a duo of Firecracker Chicken items in the form of a wrap and burger. The Firecracker Crispy Chicken Burger (from £4) features a chicken breast coated in a crispy crumb, topped with fresh salad leaves, jalapeños, and a zingy firecracker-style sauce, all served in a soft corn-top roll. The Firecracker Chicken Wrap (from £3.80) is loaded with Southern Fried Chicken Goujons, salad leaves, cucumber, and that same fiery sauce in a soft tortilla wrap.
Pizza lovers can also get in on the action with the new Hot Firecracker Pizza, topped with spicy chicken, peppers, and a fiery tomato and chipotle sauce on a focaccia-style base. It’s available by the slice and also in various sized share boxes (from £9.95 for six slices).
As part of its September menu updates, Greggs is upgrading its popular toastie range with three fillings (from £3.65). They are:
- Cheese & Ham Toastie – honey roast ham and mature Cheddar cheese sandwiched between white bread with sourdough, topped with béchamel sauce and grated mixed cheese
- Cheese & Onion Chutney Toastie – caramelised onion chutney, sliced mature Cheddar cheese and red onion sandwiched between white bread made with sourdough, topped with béchamel sauce and grated mixed cheese
- BBQ Chicken Toastie – sliced roasted chicken breast in barbecue sauce, mild Cheddar cheese with red chillies and red onion sandwiched between white bread made with sourdough, all topped with béchamel sauce and grated mixed cheese.
The new arrivals will be available in shops nationwide from Thursday 4 September, and all of the new menu items are available via Click+Collect on the Greggs App. For every nine purchases across any different category – from hot drinks to sandwiches to bakes to sweet treats – app users can get one completely free. New users of the Greggs App also receive a free iced or hot drink of their choice upon registration, as well as a free sweet treat to celebrate their birthday each year.
