Last year’s National Cupcake Champion has been listed in The Independent’s ‘The Ten Best Scones’ list.
Owner Emily Johnson of Upsy Daisy Bakery, Hammersmith, came sixth for her Upsy Daisy Bakery Plain scone, costing £1.95.
Commenting on the scone, The Independent’s Kristen Herhold, said: “Fluffy as a cloud and really moist, these scones are incredibly appetising. Cooked to perfection, they are delicious with the accompanying strawberry jam. The scones are available alone or as an addition to a very reasonably priced afternoon tea.”
Other bakeries featured included Bea’s of Bloomsbury, Gail’s Bread and The Modern Pantry.
Last year, Johnson won her title with her mojito cupcake. The bakery currently serves a range of 30 cupcake flavours, as well as afternoon teas, breakfasts and brunches from its bakery and tea room on King Street in West London. It is run by Johnson and her partner Matthew, assisted by a team of seven employees.
