Claire Carter has been in the catering and hospitality business for over 24 years, and now runs her own pet treat business, Ollie’s Pet Pawtisserie.
Carter, who has over 20 years’ experience as a fully qualified pastry chef under her belt, decided to set up Ollie’s Pet Pawtisserie (named after her black Labrador, Ollie), because of her “love of animals”.
She said her bakery experience, coupled with a good sense of humour, helped her to create dog treats like Pupcakes, Bark-well tarts, Petit Paws, and giant Bour-bone biscuits, among many others.
Carter, a member of the Association of Pastry Chefs, said: “I actually started my career back in the early 1990s, working for the Hyatt group of hotels, and eventually I worked through a range of restaurants and contract catering companies. I now work for food manufacturing company Frank Dale Foods.”
Based in Great Ellingham, Norfolk, Ollie’s Pet Pawtisserie sells handmade gourmet treats “for the discerning pet”. Carter bakes and hand-finishes all the products herself, and uses locally sourced, human grade ingredients (organic where possible), without additives or preservatives.
She has also created a range of Great British flavoured favourites, luxury bakes, and a range for special dietary requirements.
