Margate-based Speciality Breads has rolled out new chia seed-based rustic rolls and glazed brioches to tap into the health food trend.
Available across foodservice chains, the 80g Chia & Sultana Glazed Brioche and 100g Multi-Seed Chia Rustic Roll will provide a “great source of protein, fibre and anti-oxidants for consumers” said the company.
The Chia & Sultana Glazed Brioche, which comes frozen in boxes of 45 and priced at 60p per unit, is described as a “new twist” on the traditional fruited teacake and can be topped with fresh fruits.
Meanwhile, the Multi-Seed Chia Rustic Roll, available frozen in boxes of 40 and also costing 60p per unit, has a rustic appearance and contains multigrain flour.
“We’ve made a real effort to not only strengthen our range this year, but to add unique products that clearly set us apart from our competition in the sector,” said Speciality Breads managing director Simon Cannell.
“Chia seeds have become a hugely popular ingredient and, with the trend for health set to continue across retail and foodservice, we’re confident they will become important lines for us moving forward.”
Speciality Breads recently bolstered its brioche range, with new products targeted initially at the Christmas season.
