Helmsley-based Thomas the Baker will mark Yorkshire Day on 1 August by selling special Yorkshire Day cupcakes.
The white rose cupcakes, which will be on sale from 1 to 3 August, will be priced £1.50 at its stores across the region. For every cupcake sold, a 50p donation will go towards the family business’s chosen charity – the Alzheimer’s Society.
John Thomas, founder of Thomas the Baker, said that as a Yorkshire company, it seemed right to mark the day with something special.
“We’ve got so much to be proud of in the region, with food and drink that’s admired all over the world, and it should be something we shout about,” Thomas said.
Introduced 42 years ago, Yorkshire Day celebrates centuries of Yorkshire traditions across the region.
In June, Thomas the Baker announced it had raised £10,000 for the British Heart Foundation through fundraising initiatives over the past 12 months.
