As 2025 draws to a close, the British Baker team takes a look back at the big events that have played out in the baking industry over the past 12 months.

The baking industry sure has been busy in 2025! The past 12 months have seen mergers, acquisitions, and, sadly, some administrations. Some businesses have invested heavily in their growth while others have been fighting to keep costs low as inputs rise.

We’ll be taking a look at all this and more as we dive into the big M&A deals (some of which came over the line in 2025 and some which are set to shake up the market in 2026), as well as the big investments which outlined the focus for firms going forward.

Innovation has, as expected, been among the focus for many so we’ll also be exploring some of the top launches from the past year. Which ones will come out on top?
