Staff at the Baxtergate branch of Cooplands of Doncaster were wearing t-shirts with the logo ‘Sex and drugs and sausage rolls’.

However, the logo, designed as a comedic take on the Ian Dury & the Blockheads song, Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll, fired a negative response from a local resident, who told local newspapers that the use of the words sex and drugs in public was “inappropriate and offensive”.

The local, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “The use of the words sex and drugs in a public area of a food outlet is, in my eyes, inappropriate and could be offensive to shoppers across the age spectrum.

“All the staff were wearing them and two elderly ladies and a family left after a child noticed it.”

It is unclear whether the t-shirts were official staff uniforms, and a representative from Cooplands of Doncaster was unavailable at the time of going to press.

In April, staff at a Cooplands of Doncaster bakery outlet in Lincoln walked out, as they said they had not been paid for several weeks.
