CSM has acquired the business and other assets of Surrey bakery manufacturer The Cookie Man, which went into administration last week (Monday 16 January).

The global bakery product supplier said the acquisition complemented CSM United Kingdom’s operations, both in terms of its portfolio and customers.

Esher-based The Cookie Man’s profits had been hit by strong competition and changing consumer tastes, with ReSolve Partners called in as administrators.

The bakery employed around 350 staff, 25 of which were made redundant on 18 January.

The Cookie Man produces a range of premium baked goods, supplying the retail and out-of-home markets. Its product range includes cupcakes, fairy cakes and loaf cakes, mini-bites, cake slices, muffins and cookies.

In February 2011, CSM has acquired Daventry-based Classic Cakes, which produces a range of premium sweet bakery products, servicing the foodservice and retail markets. It also owns West Sussex bakery Kate’s Cakes.
