Birds of Derby has helped raise £2,800 for the Children’s Trust charity by selling hundreds of doughnuts throughout National Doughnut Week, 5-12 May.

So far £16,471 has been counted by organisers, but money is still coming in from craft bakers around the UK. The grand total is expected to exceed £35,000.

This was the fifteenth National Doughnut Week and was sponsored by BakeMark UK.

Christopher Freeman founder of the fund-raising event and owner of Dunn’s Bakery, London, said: "Doughnut Week aims to help children and raise awareness of high street bakers. The Children’s Trust strikes a chord with everyone in the UK and participating bakers can see their fundraising efforts making a difference."
