Asda has expanded its meal deal offering by adding a new hot food to go bundle which sees customers get a main, side, and dip for £4.

The launch marks the first time Asda has introduced a meal deal centred around its hot food to go and rotisserie offering, building on the success of its existing meal deals in the standard food to go and pizza counters. Earlier this year the retailer added a premium £5 meal deal to its line-up.

The latest offering allows consumers to choose from 17 mains, five sides, and eight dips to create a hot meal tailored to their tastes at different times of day. For example, breakfast options include a Sausage Bap (£2) and Sausage & Bacon Bap (£2.90), while lunchtime favourites include Hot & Spicy Mini Fillets (£2.50) and top-brand Chicago Town Cheese Pizza Slices (£1.48).

Sides include hash browns and skin on fries which can be paired with Buffalo, Garlic & Herb, and Piri Piri dips. Scottish consumers can also opt for a Bells Scotch pie as a side.

“We know our customers are looking for convenient meal options that don’t compromise on taste or value, which is why we’re delighted to introduce our new £4 Hot Food To Go Meal Deal,” said Stephanie Ashby, buying manager of rotis & food services at Asda.

“From freshly made breakfast baps to pizza slices, spicy chicken fillets and crispy fries, there’s something for everyone to enjoy for breakfast, lunch and beyond. With plenty of mix-and-match combinations available, it’s a great-value option for shoppers looking for a hot meal on the move.”

Meal deals are constantly evolving. Just this week, Greggs unveiled a new ‘quicknic’ meal deal which is only offered in regions where picnic weather is ‘perfect’ as determined by a special formula.

Like Asda, Tesco also mixed up its meal deal this year to add hot options such as bacon rolls, ham & cheese croissants, and paninis, as part of a trial taking place in 39 stores.
