Woodstock’s Artisan Bakery will switch on its ovens later this month, after being inspired to open a premises by stories of other bakeries’ successes.

Located in Stony Stratford in North Buckinghamshire, Woodstock’s is owned and run by Matthew and Krisi Lane. They said they had been particularly inspired by the likes of Pump Street Bakery in Suffolk and Forge Bakehouse in Sheffield.

It will produce hand-shaped artisan bread - including sourdoughs, continental and traditional varieties - pastries and cakes, for the retail and wholesale markets.

It will also serve hand-roasted coffee, fine teas and hot chocolate. The pair said they had taken time to source food quality flour, tea and coffee, and were also looking to source ingredients such as olives, sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes, from local suppliers.

Matthew Lane said: “The more local suppliers and producers can work together and offer supporting products from each other, the stronger local high streets and businesses will be.”

Woodstock’s used largely local contractors for the shop-fit, will be selling jam from a local producer, and hopes to supply other local food businesses.
