Two Magpies Bakery has consolidated its restaurant in Holt, North Norfolk to tap into rising demand from customers looking to eat on the go.
The business, which has six bakery and cafe sites across Suffolk and Norfolk, along with three Mini Magpies outlets in Southwold, Beccles and Wells-Next-The-Sea, has rebranded the current Holt site to its smaller Mini Magpies format. This, it said, allows it to target those who want to grab a quick coffee or baked treat or locals looking for a delicious lunch.
The Holt site is now open from 8am to 5pm seven days a week and will focus largely on takeaway sales with a small seating area for up to 27 covers. It will serve an ‘extensive’ range of Viennoiserie and baked goods as well as hot and cold drinks.
Two Magpies introduced its Mini Magpies format in early 2023, focusing on tourist hotspots, having witnessed a change in consumer eating habits.
“We are excited about the rebrand of our Holt site, which will better suit the needs of those in the local community, offering all the same great customer service and delicious bakes, but placing more emphasis on items that can be eaten on the go,” said Yasmin Wyatt, operations director at Two Magpies.
Wyatt noted that the firm’s Blakeney cafe is just five minutes up the road and offers the restaurant experience for customers seeking that.
“We originally opened our Holt site three years ago and our team has built a great relationship with customers here. It is because of this, and the great feedback we have received for our other Mini Magpies sites, that we feel this is a really positive change for the local area, catering for the growing demand for great-tasting coffee and baked treats to takeaway,” Wyatt added.
The business was established in 2013 and now operates several sites across Norfolk and Suffolk as well as a bake school and central bakery in Walpole which it expanded into last year.
It also claimed the first-ever Britain’s Best Cake title in 2024 with a salted caramel & almond brownie.
