Costa Coffee has kicked off a 24-hour trading trial at its Leicester Meridien East drive-thru store which, if successful, could see the business extend its opening hours at other locations.
The store will be operating a drive-thru lane only overnight from 10pm to 5am with both the store and drive-thru lane open daily from 5am to 10pm.
Costa said the extended opening hours provide a vital service to the local community, particularly key workers and those on nightshifts such as healthcare professionals, hospitality and retail workers, and delivery drivers.
The business added that it will ‘carefully monitor feedback’ from customers and the local community throughout the process so it can make an informed decision about the potential to roll out 24-hour trading to additional locations in the future.
“Costa Coffee has always been at the heart of the community, and this trial is another way for us to serve our customers when they need us most,” said Matt Harman, regional operations director for North and Central England at Costa Coffee.
“We’re proud that our Leicester Meridien East Drive-Thru is the first store to trial this exciting initiative. Whether it’s a late-night coffee run or picking up an early breakfast for commuters, our team is ready to deliver the Costa Coffee experience around the clock.”
To support the new operating hours, Costa has welcomed four new members to the site’s team.
The coffee shop, along with Caffè Nero, Pret, and Starbucks, has recently unveiled its menu for Christmas 2024. Highlights from the Costa line-up include a Chocolate & Caramel Nutcracker Cake, Brie & Cranberry Toastie, and Billionaire’s Slice.
